The amount of restraint you have to have as a police officer is unbelievable:
Happened in 2012, but it’s news to me. Very ironic that according to the article they just found an open bottle of liquor on him, and didn’t cuff him because they were going to be courteous and just take him home rather than arrest him. I bet that mistake won’t be made again; that could have got REAAAAAAL ugly.

He lived in north minni, i wouldnt go there for anything.
I was watching Cops one time and two officers arrested a guy for driving without iirc. They patted him down and handcuffed him behind his back then asked if he had any weapons or drugs. He then tells them he has a gun in the small of his back. They had handcuffed him there and hadn’t noticed he had a Browning High Power back there. Good thing the guy was honest. Best case scenario the two officers would never have lived that down when they booked him back at the station.
I hate to say it but that was their own fault. You don’t put someone in the car without being cuffed and searched. They’re lucky that he was too drunk to use it. It makes a very good training video for new officers.
Except he wasn’t under arrest. They were just giving him a ride home. That’s not terribly uncommon (I just saw a guy and his kids get a ride in a cruiser to the hospital last night) and I’ve never even heard of police insisting on handcuffing someone just to give them a ride.
That said, given that he was drunk, they probably should have patted him down. I’m also willing to bet he wasn’t within the law to be carrying.
Police…
Damned if they do, dead if they don’t.
What a thankless job.
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished!
Try to give a guy a ride home rather than book him on public drunkenness and an open container, and he tries to shoot you in the back of the head!
Search everybody who sits in the back seat… unless they’re your ride-along.
I’m no expert.
But that guy’s a LITTLE sauced…
I don’t know about anybody else, but if a cop is doing me a favor, I do my best to not upset them.
