Preppers Will Die When SHTF Unless They Wake Up

This guy makes some good points:

You are underestimating your enemy.  This is why so many of you are going to die.

I don’t really care for the I’m going to read some stuff on camera type videos, but I figured some of you would like the content.

Thoughts?

I couldn’t make it through the whole video it was too dry. Of course preppers are going to die. I still think that Preppers are going to have a bit more of a chance of survival. Even the best laid plans are going to fail. The best prepper is going to run into a problem or an issue group of people that he hadn’t thought of and didn’t plan for could lose. Even this guy and his Trigger time isn’t going to ensure his survival. “I don’t underestimate the enemy” and? A kid with a .22 you didn’t notice could take you out so quit telling other people that you are going to make it and they are not.

  2. I researched EMP’s last semester, right now our electrical infrastructure is so vulnerable that it would take only one nuke detonated above Kansas to knock out power in the 48 contiguous states. Even scarier, it could take a year or more to get the grid back up (if no other country suffered damage) and congressional research concluded that casualty expectations (for just one year without power) are 90%. Not trying to sound like an alarmist, but the truth is scary.

    1. yeah, i read ‘one second after’ and realized the same thing.

That was a great book. I got caught up in this prepper shit for a while, but gave up before pumping out a lot of cache for huge food stores. If SHTF for real, no power, riots, etc. Do you really want to “thrive” in that world? Unless you have the luck of the people on that show “Lost” with the doctor, abundance of hunters/trappers, etc.. What is your quality of life going to be like?

So to me, the doom and gloom, while maybe inevitable, is so much bigger than any one person/team what do you really hope to “survive”.

        1. Presumably, you would want to survive in order to get civilization up and running ASAP. I dont look forward to a life of the road warrior, which is why everyone has an obligation to learn. To learn skills, history, and pass on our American/Enlightenment ideals to the next generation. If we can do that, we might avoid going through another millenia of dark ages.

Former srp tech here i read your above comment and a giant LOL WUT literally shot out of my mouth so much so that ive decided to post here to correct this grevious bullshittery that you have fallen victim to.

      1. In short almost all metro power runs off local loops usually powered by local plants that have taps off of the main lines that feed into the primary metro or sub loops and then numerous distro loops to substations or taps into other loops that are usually sort of thrown together as cities and suburbs spread.

Most major cities are the same and can and will continue power generation regardless of whatever blows up kansas as long as adequate fuels can be processed and provided to the plants. Most ld transfer lines are to more or less sell power to other cities or local municipalities that cant expand their infrastructure because they cant balance a budget.
Long loop power lines that feed into remote areas that dont have local stations are inefficient as fuck

        What’s an SRP tech?

The problem with EMP is that it will fuck up electronics, not the generators themselves. The miniaturization of electronics make them supremely vulnerable to an attack. The first real example/test was with 1.44 megaton bomb in 1962. It screwed up electronics in Hawaii 900 miles away.

Call it at half strength — 75 KT — that the terrorists use. So effectively for a 900 mile radius around Kansas, almost every phone, telecom, vehicle (electronic ignition), generator, TV, computer, digital watch or other transistorized device will be dead. The main AT&T switching center is in St. Louis, MO.

Yes the data will still be on the hard drives (probably), but all the HD controllers will need to be replaced. Then the HD controllers will have to be replaced, as well as the actual servers.

Add in that most of the electronic manufacturing companies are in Japan, Taiwan, China and other places overseas. If they were EMPed at the same time — who do you think they would be replacement parts for first?

      2. Actually, the power lines run in sectors or grids and they aren’t just simply local. Actually, what people are talking about here(not the nuke part), happened in 2002 and it knock out power to about a 75 million people

  3. Didn’t watch the video because I’m about out the door going to a pistol match. Anyway, anyone who considers themselves to be “preppers” needs to read “Alas, Babylon” by Pat Frank. It’s fiction, but points out what you’ll run out of pretty much immediately.

My personal view is that people without 40 acres and a mule (and a good ceramic water filter) won’t last very long. Shelf-stable food has a shelf life, and when the power goes out for good, you won’t have clean water anymore.

    1. i do have 40acres and a mule, so to speak and my concern is folks who dont coming out and thinking farms make food and not understanding a bin of barley really isnt worth shooting me over.

    2. I read a good post on shtfplan “A Survival Q&A: Living through SHTF in the middle of a war zone”, this bosnian guy had a lot of good advice. One of the things he wished he would have stocked up more of is toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and everything related to hygiene. You can hunt and grow food, cant hunt soap.

This is going to be predicated on the idea of a quick fall of America. What if America falls slowly, over a decade?

  5. Yup, the first five seconds of that video reminded me how very much I hate “vlogs”, video monologues, or whatever the newfangled term for this idiocy is.

If you are going to write down what you are going to say, just put the transcript somewhere on the intertubes so those of us who do not have the time to waste listening to you drone on can read the content of the video in about a tenth the time.

    Thanks.

Made it to 2:36. Then stuff started to fade into the background.

  7. Really dry content. But… DUH!! No shit psycho prepper people are going to die. The people that are actually prepared are people who don’t make youtube videos… Just saying.

    1. You don’t have to say that you’re just saying something when it’s already quite obvious.

  8. Preppers are going to die, aside about my cred, preppers are going to die, aside about war, preppers are going to die….

Can someone tell me where he actually explains it? It’s all asides.

If you’re going write the thing down and read it verbatim it shouldn’t be all rambling like you were making it up on the spot.

This guy does make a good point, but he also forgot to tell people to STFU about being preppers, if you show off your preps to every guest at a party, they’ll tell someone else, and even if they don’t, guess who the first person they’ll run to when SHTF. That stupid prepper that now has to face possibly an armed group that is pointed at your location specifically. So STFU, or pack bags for your neighbors.

  10. The man talks like an Officer delivering a High School ROTC Graduation Speech. I fell asleep half way through.

Networking and Hygiene are the two biggest things you can put stock on. Social Networks, knowing how to do many things and communicate, negotiate and coexist with other people is much more important. Soap, Hand Sanitizer, Medical supplies and basic chemistry/botany/biology know-how will be king.

Eventually, the shooting dies down. When that happens, warriors don’t matter as much. Look at an 11B or 0311 when he gets out of the military, that is a prime example (I know, I was one).

Road warrior BS won’t solve anything.

  11. There are dozens, maybe hundreds of these videos out there. If there’s one thing some preppers love more than prepping, it’s proclaiming other preppers to be unprepared. The MO is always the same; pick one ludicrously dismal scenario where humans mysteriously become non-social animals overnight, despite 100,000 years of evolution to the contrary, and then find flaws in what everyone else, who haven’t prepared for YOUR retard scenario.

We don’t know what kind of shit will be hurled at our fan, so no matter what you prepare for, something else will likely come along. Humans are adaptive, social, and brilliant. Life isn’t always peachy, but there is no doomsday. The prophets of doom should go get medicine for that Cassandra complex.

  12. I couldn’t watch the whole thing — too dry.

But if I’m prepping, I wouldn’t let anyone know. I don’t want them on my doorstep.

  13. He makes a lot of good points. Thing about these videos is picking up information and using what is useful to your situation. Of all the preppers I have come into contact with, they do have a false sense of security that if they have the supplies, they will not die. It was rather refreshing than the usual.

  14. i aint worried. got my sks. i’ll go inna woods.

  15. Believe me I’ve got a decent bit of disaster preparation ready but people that claim a “doomsday” are fucktards.

    Our infrastructure is not centralized.

    1. Do they use electronics to control it? See above about EMP.

Dear 032125, clearly you are a lib pos. Way to use the word ‘retard’ to imply something is stupid. Those that tend to use the word ‘retard’ in any fashion are either teenagers or hipsters who feel they are more intelligent than everyone else. Anyway, just thought I’d tell you that you suck. I liked the video.
