Long, but interesting:
As much as I hate to ever agree with the people who are trying to restrict magazine capacity for “our safety”, it does still seem to me like a good point where an active shooter could possibly mess up under stress, despite their “test” showed it really doesn’t. Hardly a “real world” type test though when it comes to stress levels. Where this whole OMG BAN HIGH CAPACITY ASSAULT CLIPS thing gets retarded though, is why would someone who wanted to kill a large number of people even consider using limited capacity magazines? Exactly, they wouldn’t because there are (and forever will be) millions of regular capacity magazines available for all popular firearms. Oh wait though, you know what.. they might not use them though if they are illegal, because they don’t want the extra charges. *snicker*
10:44 – Start of the New York Reload test. hahah I loved the tossing of the revolvers; ban high capacity revolver holding bags!
Thoughts?

I would submit that a spree killer doesn’t feel stress in the same way as, say, a law abiding citizen in a gunfight. Spree killers execute unarmed targets. Fish in a barrel, so to speak. It also seems as though they have disassociated to the point where they don’t see their targets as human, but as some object of their rage. TL;DR: it’s easy to reload when no one’s shooting back at you.
I just watched this and caught the NY reload reference. That’s awesome. I’m glad I picked up an ENDO NY Reload shirt the other day.
+10, that’s why I emailed ENDO-Mike about this article I saw.
And because I ordered a NY Reload T-shirt a week or so ago…. And also because it allegedly applies to my former daily routines.
I get the point but this video is flawed.
– Jim shot slow with the 15 round magazines.
– Christy did not go to slide lock in the 15 round mag test (or 10 round mag test or 5 round mag test) when she was reloading. So either someone told her when to reload and she had one still in the chamber or she didn’t fire all 30 rounds (didn’t count). I am guessing they did this because she is limp wristing and the gun would not go to slide lock with her firing repeatedly.
– Again, Jim shoots faster with 10 round magazines with the Ar then he did with the 20 round mag.
– doesnt look like Christy goes to slide lock again with the AR.
Do over be intellectually honest. The good guys don’t need to lie like the gun-grabbers.
Both of them were counting and didn’t achieve slide/bolt lock until the last round of the last magazine. I counted for them. ^_^
Nobody *has* to use the slide/bolt release, even if you’re a bad guy. I noticed it too, but a detail like that is several orders of magnitude beyond the comprehension of any gun grabber. However, the overall point might make it through somewhere, and adding the use of the release wouldn’t change the result.
Tactical reload, good to go?!
This whole “test” is pointless. Just argue the fact that a person who is going to kill people doesn’t give a shit about breaking a little mag capacity law.
Also a mass-shooter gets to pick the time, location, and target of his shooting spree. Even if he/she is limited to 10rd magazines, they can still do the same damage by virtue of being able to plan out their attack in advance so that magazine changes aren’t a hindrance. Law abiding citizens who suddenly find themselves do not get to pick the circumstances or how many attackers they may face. The lack of sandard capacity mags for a regular citizen is more of a disadvantage than for a mass shooter intent on doing damage.
The Virgina Tech shooter used 10 rd magazines and look what that did. 150rds, I believe was the last round count from him.
The anti gun and anti std magazine arguments are flawed in exactly the same way, there are millions of each out there so unless you can wave a magic wand and make them disappear no legislation is going to save any innocent lives, it will cost some though.
Laws do not stop people from doing bad things, laws draw the lines and establish the punishments, that is all they can do.
And the other thing…showing that there is little difference between times can backfire. The anti rights people will say, “See, even limited to 7 rounds, there’s no problem.”
The point is that the entire ban is stupid, unconstitutional, and makes criminals out of law abiding people.
trust me, i think the whole thing is stupid but i did also come to the same realization as ^^, the test result is a double edge sword (as it were).
the timing proves congruently that it doesn’t hinder performance.
i’m pretty sure even a weekend lawyer wouldn’t open himself up for cross with such a weak argument.
You should send Jim and the Sheriff an ENDO NY Reload shirt.
@Triggernoob what about Christy? I can’t believe I just watched this whole video. It was good and worth it.
Why not. Christy didn’t execute the NY reload. Jim did and the Sheriff talked about it. ENDO shirts for everyone!
haha you and the shirt giveaways! Shirts for everyone! :P
Thanks Mike! I will take that declaration as a binding statement. Look for my address in an email. :P
People can learn two things from that video. (as we all know) 1. Mag restriction laws do nothing to help save any lives. 2. Jim’s a bad ass.
It is NOT a double edge sword. let me re-iterate simply, by what was already explained by another fellow commenter.
The sicko “assault human” has MINUTES to reload and shoot his fish in barrel, gun free zone victims.
The law abiding citizen defending themself has SECONDS to prevent harm to themselves and family.
See the difference now?
i didn’t say i agree with the logic. but yours is a rational (and correct) statement. the people that argue against, are not rational, and at face value, to the average uninformed joe on the street (with is most of them), that is a rational point of contention.
Sad but true.
Cheers waterman.
jim sped up his shooting on the ten rd mags and the 6 rd mag wouldnt drop free so it took more time
jim speeds up every time he cheated
