The Military MAC-10 Rifle

One of the deadliest firearms available:

I’m not kidding… they actually called it a Military Mac-10 rifle.   Check out the full story about this deadly gem they picked up at the New Haven CT gun buyback.  Another successful day getting deadly military rifles off the streets.  I wonder if they picked up any rocket launchers at this one, or is that just an L.A. thing?

hahahha Derp to the power of infinity on all counts.  No purpose except killing and murdering people… NONE.  Don’t even bother arguing.

Thoughts?  I think I might go shoot my special forces assault red ryder this afternoon.. or maybe i’ll mess around with my police issue supersoaker if it’s hot out.

  1. Well, technically it is a rifle. If it didn’t have rifling that would make it an AOW, and illegal without the paperwork and tax stamp.

    1. Legally, it’s not since it’s not shoulder fired. According to 18 USC § 921 (a):

      (7) The term “rifle” means a weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of an explosive to fire only a single projectile through a rifled bore for each single pull of the trigger.

Oddly enough if you get shotguns that have barrels less than 18″ but came from the manufacturer with pistol grips are generally classified as AOWs (as smooth-bored pistols) not short-barreled shotguns. That drops the tax stamp to $5 from $200. Another example of how stupid and arbitrary this kind of stuff gets.

  2. blast, kinda want one of these

LMFAO They wrote “shotguns” as “shot guns” too.

it’s not the automatic version, but can be made that way!!!! they say.

so can almost every gun ever made!

truly a terrifying piece of kit (i take mine out and shoot paper with it, hmmm. )

I highly doubt that’s classified as a rifle though. Ed: please justify your comment as it flies in the face of every piece of information out there. My Cobray manual says “Pistol.”. The local 4473 says Pistol. The transfer paperwork from Impact Guns says Pistol. ?

  5. Well, in all honesty… this weapon was designed to kill people. It’s hard to think of another purpose in which it wouldn’t be easily outclassed by other firearms. It obviously doesn’t have a sporting purpose.

Of course, from there only someone who is deliberately ignoring logic in favor of sensationalism would make the leap from “probably not used to sustain your family in the wilderness” to “lethal instrument of gangbangers for killing cops and district attorneys”, but we definitely shouldn’t pretend it’s something that it isn’t.

Yes, most submachineguns, assault/tactical rifles and handguns are made for killing people. The argument should be “Sure, but we have the right to them anyway.”

You know, I’ve long wondered why there has to be a ‘sporting purpose’ on any gun, or that any laws should derive from a gun having a sporting purpose as opposed to any other purpose (922). I believe the NRA began that language in result of the Brady’s coming to prominence in the 80’s, no? Regardless, I believe gun owners and the gun lobby should abandon any mention of a gun being sporting or not and proudly accept the reality that ALL guns do have the purpose of killing and/or murdering. After all, the founders who accepted firearms for that purpose didn’t intend to enumerate that right as a way to keep the state militia well regulated for warfare AND hunting. We should be no different. My pistols and rifles are meant to be used to end life, not to wound, tickle, rape or pillage. Tip-toeing around a firearm’s purpose or trying to diffuse perception is concession and enabling IMHO.

    2. The original phrase was “sporting purpose” which was intended to protect firearms used for hunting or target shooting. This phrase came from the 1994 “Feinstein” bill which sought to limit the availability of grenade launchers and anti-tank guns to the public by defining Destructive Devices as:
“any type of weapon . . . which will . . . expel a projectile . . ., the barrel or barrels of which have a bore of more than one-half inch in diameter, except a shotgun . . . which the Secretary or his delegate finds is generally recognized as particularly suitable for *sporting purposes* ….”

This wording was used to protect 12ga shotguns from the ban which have a bore of about .6 inches. It is a matter of some debate what the phrase “sporting purpose” really means. The ATF tried to use it to ban Saiga shotguns, but that finding was later changed by a ruling in the Senate.

I really don’t think it’s a good idea to say that ANY gun doesn’t have a sporting purpose. It can be argued that any gun, all the way back to lever-actions and black powder guns, doesn’t serve a sporting purpose. Let’s face it, a deer can be killed pretty easily with a simple bow and arrow or a knife. And if you need more than one shot you really shouldn’t be hunting… etc… etc…

  6. I can tell you that the entire city of New Haven is full retard. My brother was attacked by three people walking home one day and pulled his gun and they ran (legal concealed carry). The cops said they would have shot them and the Mayors office put out a statement that he shouldn’t of resisted. Mind you a guy the same night was attacked by 3 males and put in the hospital, I wonder who that was.

  7. thats cute. prob a century arms remake or restore
id bumpfire that lil guy all day.

  8. the article is short, and scant on details. obviously a late night slap-dash job by a lower writer with a long pension keeping them on payroll even though they’ve long overstayed their usefulness

  9. “or maybe i’ll mess around with my police issue supersoaker if it’s hot out”

Would that be the one with the shotgun inside? :)

you know what ? I’m going to take 350 dollars and buy a second pistol in this form factor just to put one back into the hands of collectors. Thanks New Haven for helping me decide what to buy next.

i’d be sickened if this was one of the rare open bolt semi’s that were made before the ATF’s ruling in 82. its not a mpa, vmac or cobray. shit ass picture looks like RPB (rape pillage burn)

  12. “This is an original Mac-10 not a full auto…”

    Article has instantly become invalid.

Does it have a bayonet lug? Because THAT would make it the deadliest weapon in the world. It has a pistol grip and everything. Even scary looking threading. Will someone please introduce a thumb-hole version?

    1. What it really needs is a shoulder thing that goes up.

  14. These things are just ridiculous!
