Coming out for the major game systems in 2013:
Creating hype over a year in advance seems kind of dumb, but what do I know? Says “Not actual gameplay footage”, but I’m guessing actual gameplay should look pretty close in the end.
I read Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 book, and played the very first game and really liked it.
What’s the concensus now ? Is Rainbox 6 still cool? Or Are Modern Warfare and Battlefield way better?

sweet !! another series of rainbow six is coming :D
well, what I like about the rainbow six series is the realism in it. I use to spend a lot of time planning the perfect waypoints for each fireteam on each mission. but since rainbow six las vegas, it became more of an action oriented shooter rather than the tactical squad based shooter.. but I still love the series :)
Hell.. I love all Tom Clancy’s game!!
Holy shit that looks intense.
Battlefield and Call of Duty are pretty cool games, but they always felt very watered down.
BF is trying to be more realistic but feels more detached from the experience. Cool stuff like tanks and planes and great visuals, but just a lack of feeling.
CoD (talking about the Modern Warfare trilogy) feels very good. Everything is nicely finished, and you get a lot more into character with it. They do, however, tend to blend more into fantasy. The latest game is in the future by several years and they have some crazy tech devises.
Both games, however, let you get shot a lot on low difficulty or make the bad guys into super snipers with 1-shot kill precision on high difficulty. And bad guys need a few bursts of fire to finish them off. Two to the chest isn’t enough.
More recent UbiSoft Montreal games such as the Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell games have shown really awesome gameplay features and are very mature and graphic games. They’re both more fantasy games though.
If they can make a game with a central character and a story as good as AC or SC and blend in the super attention to detail of the original Rainbow Six games I would definitely be in love.
Oh yeah, we DON’T need multiplayer. Not a shitty version tacked on for slightly better replay or to sell more games, and certainly not a good one that results in a shorter, underdeveloped single player experience.
I’ve always been a fan of the Clancy games, the gameplay is just so sweet and the concept behind them is so much more interesting than the COD or BF games. And clancy games have the best campaign modes.
Rainbow is one of the best tactical fps shooter franchise around. I still find my old copies and play them every now and again.
On a completely different note, you wouldn’t happen to go by “Lime” on a certain forum? (it’s just that the avatar, the name and the way you type and what you said is VERY similar to someone I know)

There’s the flaw, you are using the words “cool” and “better” interchangeably. Modern Warfare and Battlefield never were better, they just got cool. There are plenty of other games that do the realism far better, and there are plenty of other games that do the online multiplayer shooting far better. None of them are considered as “cool” as Battlefield and Modern Warfare.
The problem as others are pointing out, it’s apples to oranges to bananas. Modern Warfare two thrives on it’s rather on-off multiplayer and ‘shocking’ singleplayer that takes fuckall to complete with a barely believable plot. Battlefield has, and always been, a multiplayer experience. It’s a game to hold a LAN party in and add fuckton of bots for hours on hours of fragging.
The Rainbow Six games had always been the quintessential tactical shooter. It isn’t a crazy run and gun like the Modern Warfare series, nor is it the LAN-party FPS that is Battlefield.
And that’s it’s selling point for me. Saving up now.
My only gripe is that I hope this doesn’t become a hatchet job on conservatives. But with the Occupy protests, it might be a blurry line taken one way or another.
Intense
For not being a gamer, ENDO-Mike posts a lot of stuff about video games.
No doubt. Besides the fact I don’t have the time or attention span to play them, the graphics are so awesome and the trailers are usually pretty awesome to like at as well.
You should give them a whirl. These fps types don’t really require an attention span compared to other genres. Just run the single player campaigns first – they’re pretty much scripted roller coaster rides that play out like a movie.
In Rainbow 6 you aren’t hopping around like heavily armed kangaroos. HATE that shit. Or does our military train our soldiers to hop around like that?
Can’t wait for this to come out. God, I hope they don’t include jumping.
I mean, maybe you can jump, realistically. As in a running start to try and jump or using your hands, etc…
But yeah, Rainbow Six is something you sit down to see if you can do a mission and next thing you know your alarm clock goes off at 5 in the morning.
…and then you call out sick. ;)
Note: Make sure your boss/professor is not up to date on video games.
That just reminded me of my horrible flashbacks of Counter-strike – jumping up and down while blazing away with an FN P90 was the best way to clear rooms.
Appears to be an anti-white male racist story line.
Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon are legendary even before Battlefield and COD Modern Warfare became popular. The Tom Clancy games have been so few and far between lately that the market is getting fresh(er) blood. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter was pushed til next year and now so is Rainbow Six, by that time we will have another COD game trailer to watch. They (Tom Clancy) are great games but the development time is hurting them at the moment.
Looks like an on rails interactive cut-scene with a ripped from the headlines story.
Not interested in the slightest.
