Kennesaw, Georgia – Where Everyone Is Armed By Law

This city, half an hour’s drive north of Atlanta, is unique: it is the only place in America where it is compulsory to own a gun. In 1982, Kennesaw City Council unanimously passed an ordinance requiring households to own at least one firearm with ammunition. The law states that its purpose is to “protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants”.

Oh and surprise surprise, the crime rate is low there relative to similar sized towns near by. I wonder why? *sarcasm*

Good to see perfect trigger discipline in all of the pictures for a change.

  1. Neat article. The “SCAR AR-15” made me smirk. Although the “original boys in the hood” and the confederate imagery made me frown.

Oh I didn’t even notice that shirt.. yea that’s no good.

  2. I live in Kennesaw, and this was something my neighbors asked me during our first block party when I moved here 9 years ago. It’s nice to know who has what, and that the Neighborhood Watch is more than just an idea.

Right on! It should be compulsory everywhere for non criminals to own a gun… we know the criminals are going to so we might as well even the score.
