Heartbreaking to see young men wounded so severely while serving our country.
Angel Barcenas and William Gibson of the Marines wish each other good luck prior to their 1,500 Meter run during the 2010 Warrior Games for wounded soldiers on Friday 05/14/10 at U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

This was the first year that the games were held, but as the article above says, they are already planning on holding it again next year.
I’m glad to see these guys aren’t letting their injuries ruin their competitive spirit, camaraderie, and zest for life.
Pretty interesting to see in some of the pictures, how far prosthetic limb technology has come.

I agree it’s heartbreaking. But, it also angers me. I’m angered that most of these deaths and injuries are inflicted by cowards — cowards who place bombs that kill and wound indiscriminately both warriors and civilians. They are cowards who won’t wear the uniform of a soldier so they can easily hide behind their women and children. Such cowards are the enemy, and they don’t deserve the breath of life.
I agree 100%!
Yes, it’s heartbreaking to see these young people like this, but it’s also inspirational to see them overcome their injuries and live life to the fullest.
Always wondered what it’s like to be missing a limb or two. Hope I never find out, though.
I’ve heard that sometimes the brain can’t comprehend that the part is missing. Apparently people with missing limbs occasionally feel like they have an itch they need to scratch etc.. on the part that is no longer there.
