Spetsnaz BOOMSTICK

LOL @ 13 seconds.

Seriously, what is that? and where can I buy one?

I wonder if the Russians use challenge coins or draw straws to figure out who is going to be BOOMSTICK man?

Seems like some awful realistic training with metal and glass flying everywhere.  I wonder how many guys get injured during ops like that?

hahaha I’ll have to remember that line

  4. Holy Crap!! I wouldn’t want to be boomstick man, or the people in the bus either.

      No kidding! Both look painful

  5. Ok, what the hell was that even supposed to simulate?

hjahah who knows… Even if it supposed to simulate a bus explosion, I don’t know why they would need to send a guy right next to it to detonate the explosives.

  6. Im thinking that saving hostages isnt a high priority for their hostage rescue teams. If this drill is anything like they will perform in real life! LOL

yea, kind of a “Blow stuff up, ask questions later” approach :P

Value of human life is not that high outside US, Canada, Japan, Western Europe. The funny thing is, those of us in those areas see/read/hear about high loss of life tragedies outside those areas and shrug, as if to acknowledge the local mores. If 129 hostages died in the US, it would be craziness for weeks. In Russia, you don’t take hostages…hostages take YOU!

That’s a good point Jeremiah. I suppose there is so much of a disconnect between our cultures (outside of the areas you mentioned), that it is hard to even comprehend when lots of people die.

    2. Japan? Not exactly a high regard for life kinda place – remember the Kamikazes? The battles of Midway, Iwo Jima? etc? And lest we forget how little the cared about their civilians after the first A-bomb got dropped. Took two for them to surrender.

  8. ROFL! I guess the new guy gets broken in or its a guy from a penal battalion. HRT…ya right.

  9. 1. BMP firing into the bus….
    2. some dude shooting into the air, I think….
    3. big line of riot shield toting guys in the back.
    4. an announcer with a megaphone.

Doesn’t look like HRT to me…..looks like one of those parade ground assault practices just designed to look good. The blast looked a lot bigger than a flashbang, so maybe it was just a “This is how we kill badguys and take prisoners” type of thing?

and just for laughs….the original video contains a phrase in russian that seems to translate into “this must be what they call “pokazukha”. Not suprisingly, google says thats a slang word that means “Something done for show.”

    1. Totally true. Half the guys show up with pistols, nobody seems to be in charge, and people taking a knee to pull security are not facing OUT where there weapon is aimed. Rank amateurs.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the guy wielding the boomstick was: “Leeeerooooooy Jeeeeeeennnkiiiiinnss!”.

  11. Notice all the ambulances standing by at 0:53…

Are you sure that’s an ambulance? It appears to have red, blue and white lights. Rather than just red which ambulances normally have.

  12. unprofessional…

must have a retarded training sup… if that window hadn’t broken the angle of explosion would have effing killed the stick man…. and co.

They’re not going to come across untreated windows in modern vehicles so this is all useless…

crossfire and using effing liquid packed explosives

    what where they thinking??

  15. “The more you sweat in training, the less you bleed in combat”? Or would that be “If you die in training it means you haven’t learned enough for combat”?

Nice quotes. Sounds like they would be pretty accurate.

  16. As I recall, the Russian philosophy is to consider hostages as already dead. If they get any back alive, hey bonus. There was a movie theater in Moscow, I believe, where some jihadi hirabis had taken hostages. They used nerve gas. Those hostages they got the antidote to in time survived.

If that is indeed their philosophy, that is pretty harsh to say the least.

Not nerve gas, a powerful opiate designed to sedate everyone, the few hostages that dies, did so because they were either already weak from being starved and/or had existing health issues.

well if any of russian hostage rescues over the last couple of years taught us anything is that they tend to favor kill bad guys first, worry about hostages later rather then save life first, kill second.

  18. […] more BOOMSTICK! […]

  19. Ya know,, either it is not allowed for Worldwide News, or, Hostage situations in Russia, are far and few between. BECAUSE – They don’t screw around like pussies, and the bad guys know that. Like Japanese negotiator deal where the second he had a chance,, he blew the guy away – as it should be . No muss, No fuss!! AND,, you don’t have to House and feed the Garbage either for the rest of their lives.

Food fer thought: Russia couldn’t win in Afghanistan,, and we think we can by backing the Heroin Growers??

You raise a good point Army. It’s too much about “feelings” and “public relations” in North America.
