Throwing AR Pistol Fire Shouldering A Sig SB15 Stock

Highjak86 spits hot fyaaaahhhh out of their AR Pistol:

Pretty mean.

Someone please answer this question for me… I call this an AR pistol, not an SBR because I notice the use one of those Sig Arm Brace stocks on it.  In hindsight I guess that’s why they have ARP (an acronym I’ve never seen used before but I’m assuming stands for AR Pistol) in the title.  Is it legal to not use it like a pistol at all and put the brace up against your shoulder like they are?  Seems like a pretty glaring loophole to the SBR / pistol retardedness.

Highjak86-YouTubeThoughts?

  1. Perfectly legal, but the ATF has been known to change their minds before and make criminals out of good people.

According to a friend of mine who bought one of these, it comes with a letter from the BATFE saying it’s just fine. They ruled that it is not a butt stock, and the way that you use it doesn’t change what it is.

As for the “brace” itself, I found it adequate as a stock. Some people say it doesn’t compare, but it’s cheaper than a stamp, and way more practical than that chin brace derp.

I’ve been mulling over getting one of the SB47 braces for an AK type pistol for a while now, but as Mount states above, government agencies have been known to change their minds on these things…

Unfortunately their “thought process” (if you can even call it that) on what is NFA and what isn’t does not always seem coherent. Like the fact that a suppressor is considered to be a firearm, and every part of that suppressor is also a firearm… Same with a DIAS… Endo Mike’s previous posting about a shoelace related example also. Shit just makes you shake your head.

Even though ATF has signed off on these and they come with a letter of approval, I have to wonder how many YouTube videos, etc, it will take before they backpedal on this decision.
Every time I seriously think about ordering one, I hear Admiral Ackbar yelling “It’s a trap!”

      Awesome thanks for the info!

  2. As noted above the ATF has been known to change its mind. And posting videos of the brace being used as a stock seems like a great way to make them reconsider. They love to close “loopholes.”

  3. Huh. I thought I was the only one that called it ARP- I came up with that as a goofy name for my AR Pistol a while ago:

  4. Been toying with the idea of an AR pistol (not necessarily with this brace) and I’m wondering if there is any adequate flash supressor that is good enough to tame that fireball so such a gun could be used for home defense. Smith Vortex maybe? AAC blackout? Anyone try one on a SBR/ARP?

Otherwise, I wouldn’t hesitate to get this brace..if ATF goes stupid on their classification for this item, you can always use a good 2pt or 1pt sling to have good support when firing. Of course i’m in MT where nobody would give a crap about it.

    1. The KX3 “Fire Breathing Pig” works pretty good for redirecting sound and lessening the flash. But make no mistake- a 7.5″ 5.56 barrel will be bright.

aside from novelty, i don’t get the idea of a super short AR barrel anyway. aren’t there more effective rounds that will also make you deaf and blind? :)
