NRA News x Dom Raso:
Why would a criminal buy a new gun from an FFL when they could just get one off the streets or through a face to face transfer? Yea exactly. I’m sure most of the people who fail the background check, fail due to false positive or things they did not know would disqualify them from owning a firearms which showed up in NICS.
Once again, criminals don’t follow laws so…

Thoughts? Background checks are a pointless waste of money and resources. ’nuff said.
Or they have a straw buying get their gun(s)…which is already a FEDERAL crime.
I’m against gun control but prefer education. However, I DO agree with background checks but we have it all wrong. Background checks should focus on MENTAL HEALTH issues. The liberal left points to tragedies like the Aurora Theatre shooting or Virginia Tech as evidence for gun control. If mental health background checks were done, we would have likely identified the individuals. And not to restrict them of access to guns but at least then we can make sure they’re actually better and haven’t relapsed. This way if there even is a false positive, it just means it gets looked into more detail (as opposed to restricting access to someone who lost a family member a while ago and had to take anti-depressants because of that but is 100% better now).
As the argument goes, this would make it harder for law abiding citizens to purchase guns but wouldn’t slow down those are purchasing illegally.

THERE is a background check system that provides EVERYTHING that the anti-gun types CLAIM to want, whilst not functioning as a back door registration or block on legal gun ownership.
