If you have to ask what that is, you’re not operator enough:
One handed press checks are also really handy for those who dual wield. You can’t look like a newb fumbling with your guns… setting one down looking at it… setting other one down. That shit is embarassing.
The operator you see in the video is Owen Martin from Snakehound Machine. Owen is also known by his moniker “AK-Jesus” for good reason… the guy builds a mean AK. Now that he has risen (yea Easter joke Hyuk huyk) I’m sure he has crazy backorders, but give him a call if you need an AK.
Thoughts? Anyone want to one up this one handed press check somehow? I’m always interested in reducing my drag coefficient (which is already incredibly low for someone that just talks about operating on a website, and doesn’t actually operate).

my buddy patrick has large enough hands that he can lock the slide back on his beretta 92 with one hand. i think he can even take it down one handed too.
Obligatory.

Never noticed back in the day. They hired some good operator consultants for that movie!
Beautiful link.
So why not check it when you put it on, before you are disabled? Or is this for checking something you picked up off the battlefield? I dont know about everyone else, but I check my stuff before I put it on, and just kinda assume it will be good the rest of the day.
You have to check them hourly, more often for foreign models, damn things are sketchy.
Duly noted, should I waive it around too? I’m not sure if it’s in to be a conspicuous operator or not. Those guys are so low drag even their fads move faster than I can see.
Spittle and MtnDew on my screen. TS
This is silly. Nice one handed technique. You could also accomplish this much safer by hooking rear sights on belt or pant pocket. That way you are not in danger of dropping or looking too cool unnecessarily. You don’t put your gun on and the reason you do this is not cuz u found it on the battlefield so much but after you make ready or sling shot or slide. Way toouch tacticool for me.
First I agree this is dumb. I am guessing it was made just because. But …
While its hooked on your pocket you can visually check there is a round in the chamber? He is press checking not cycling the the round out.
HANDS DOWN the best AK builder in the US.
Press check… No. Best technique for taking down a Glock, Yep.
Why would one need to press check a Glock when they come with chamber indicators?
hard to feel if that extractor is sticking out or not maybe. also, chicks dig it when you do it this way, and hidden ninjas will think twice about cutting you.
<<< Early adopter. No chamber indicators on my Glocks and use old style extractors.
Owen hates his left hand, that’s why he’s muzzling it. Those pesky four rules take all the fun out don’t they?
Haha I love how many people think this is a real thing.
I was always taught to just look down the barrel. Saves a lot of time and unnecessary manipulation.
Look down the barrel and pull the trigger? TS
I can’t count the times I’ve had to rescue babies from battle zones.
Ok, all the bullshit aside. I really appreciate it in movies when someone picks up a gun(THAT IS NOT THEIRS) and checks to see if it’s loaded instead of just racking the slide…
Ok, bullshit right on top. This video was funny.
True operators can tell be weight if the firearm is loaded…..
i press check using my teeth, but i’m cool like that.
Don’t forget the first rule of Hollywood: Rack the slide frequently. It’s well know that the round in the chamber can go stale in just a few minutes so you must always put a fresh round in the chamber. That’s why the typical Hollywood prop gun’s magazine holds an average of 150 rounds. That way everyone can make lots of clicky noises before the shooting starts.
Why not just hook your trigger finger on the rear lip of the ejection port, pull the slide to the rear, with said finger only and PHYSICALLY check (read FEEL) for a loaded chamber. Light is often taken for granted…
Loaded chamber indicator on my XD so no real use for this. I would be lying if I said I didn’t just try it though.
