This went down a few weeks ago in Oak Harbor, WA:
Unlike the Newtown parent Bill Stevens video I posted, this one was truly off the cuff so in my opinion it was a lot better.
The pure gold starts at 2:07:
- Councilman: “The gentleman says he carries a weapon ALL the time for protection, can you please ask him if he is armed right now?”
- Mayor: “I guess the question is, would it matter?”
- Councilman: “It does to me.”
It basically gets 10x more hilarious from that point on, so just watch the video. That mayor seems like a really cool guy.

For fucks sake
This is the fucking problem with people these days.
Haha. Councilman didn’t get his way, so he took his toys and went home.
Talk about irrational.
One of the top comments was perfect hahahaha. What an idiot.
“Almberg did the right thing by excusing himself. Someone with a clinical phobia as debilitating as his appears to be should seek mental health treatment immediately.”
There were 3 rows of chairs – where did the other two rows go?
Did the people attending the meeting fold them up as they left, if so they certainly were quiet.
The comments the dude made and the councilman rage quitting were 2 hours before the good guy speaking. Video is cut but not edited for content.
Props to the major.
What does “leave the premise” mean?
Does that representative want the civilian testifying to abandon his views and agree?
As Bill Hicks would say, “It makes no sense.”
Yeah, I caught that too. I know the definition of ‘premise’ when I read it in a sentence but here I looked it up to see if there was a secondary definition that made sense in the way the purpose-bald guy used the word.
Looks to me like when he got all butthurt about the guy CC’ing he just got nervous and misused the word.
I spent a few minutes looking a for an alternate use as well! Yeah, he meant ‘premises’ but got a little flustered.
Sustained wounds in protection of those [2a] rights? When did a bunch of goat herders in Afghanistan try to infringe on our right to bear arms?
lol, they tried to ban hats in council chambers? Did this apply to all hats, or only high capacity top hats and 10 gallon hats?
7 gallons or less now.
Goat herders that have never been beat. I would assume he meant he was wounded while defending the Constitution.
The goat herders weren’t threatening that either.
How about ‘wounded while serving the interests of national defense?’ Does that sound more accurate to you?
I would prefer ‘wounded while serving the interests of the politicans and their corporate overlords’ since those goat herders weren’t threatening our national defense either.
How ignorant is your premise? We are not at war with goat herders, and any service in the military; regardless of where it actually occurs, is in defense of the Constitution.
Is “any service in the military” a “defense of the Constitution” if the military actions taken are in violation of said constitution?
I just threw up a little in my mouth. Don’t be a lapdog for your federal masters.
Yah that guy in the video is whats wrong with America. Just trying to be a good American and raise a like minded family. What we need is more ass-munches like yourself who have it all figured out. Its all a conspiracy!!!!!
As a service member who spent numerous tours of duty in both theaters of operation, I can attest that I’ve never shot an innocent “goat herder.” But I have shot many an artillery spotter, an “innocent” IED farmer, homicide bomber, and a barber who also happened to behead servicemen for fun. I have a clear conscience…
…and if you come to our country, kill innocent CPAs, STOCK BROKERS, fathers, brothers, mothers, sisters, daughters, cleaning people, parking attendants, elevator repair men, or any other human being, I and others like me will find you in your fucking cave and skull fuck you with your Kalashnikov until you bleed or have a sudden change of heart. Believe that!
And those innocent goat herders are who ran and got the 1000 or so Taliban fighters to the guys of Operation Red Wings who gave their lives (in defense of the attacks of 9/11…which Matt seems to have conveniently forgotten) in Afghanistan. Those interested can look up the story of Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

Sorry guys!!
There is a reason I could never be a politician… if I was the coucilman at the end talking about feeling safer because of the guy with his concealed carry… he did good to point out that the tools that left had sworn to uphold the constitution and they DIDN’T… love it. I would have added “what a couple of pussies”…. excuse my French but anyone that takes that oath and breaks it should instantly be asked to go home and not come back.
anyone notice that when asked if he had a gun, the room was crowded. Less then a minute later. there were only about 6 people there and all the other chairs removed. Something fishy about this.
Good for you mayor. I’m glad some people still remember they took an oath.
Washington represent son!!! Woo woo!!!
I’d vote for that mayor. He gets that he isn’t a god.
The difference between Obama and God is that God doesn’t think He is Obama.
What a baby.
At most council meetings, Police Officers are standing armed-guard within the chambers (especially after that council shooting awhile back).
This councilman is obviously the problem-child in that City, and a total knee-jerk. I couldn’t tell if they had Officer-security; maybe he wee-weed and had them removed as well.
They seem to not have any legal standing to keep CCW’s out of the chambers, otherwise this guy probably wouldn’t have carried in there. He must be the sane, rational guy he seems to be in order to get the CCW and the Mayor made the right call.
The councilman violated his rights by trying to motion him out of chambers.
I think people local should make sure one CHL holder is at every meeting.
No doubt! That councilman will probably motion for searches at every meeting now tho.
This was a hot topic here in Oak Harbor. The subsequent meeting had plenty o’ pistol packin’ folks in attendance. A lot of this stems from Oak Harbor banning firearms in public parks and marinas, a law which flies in the face of the WA state law that dictates that no lesser government, be it city, county, etc. can make more strict laws than what the state has already set.
on a lighter note: hey my town is on the ENDO blog! how neat…we big time now!
I was somewhat embarrassed as the person stood and defended his lawful carry of a concealed weapon, that he was trained, and he served his country. Sad that he felt he needed to somehow qualify his exercise of a constitutional right.
Remember Tam’s Rule: Because, F you, that’s why.
How does that councilman manage to walk outside his home everyday? Guns, hammers, cars, knives, stupidity all around all day long. Must be scary being surrounded by deadly assault items all day.
From a recent council meeting in Oak Harbor –
“William Frail had an M-1 rifle on his shoulder as he testified. “Sir, my mother was Jew,” he said. “My family went to the chambers. I will not go into the night quietly while these two ask me to board the train.”
Amen.
I grew up in Steilacoom, WA. Now I live in CA. This was great to watch since all I own is about to be made illegal shortly.
