Firearms And Witty Signs In The Heartland

Some good people in rural Illinois have a unique way of sticking up for the 2nd Amendment:

The “crooks carry guns” sign they are putting up at the beginning of the video looks funny when taken out of context of the rest of the signs in the series.

So let me get this straight… Lady at 1:45 lost a daughter in a shooting at a university, and she is “offended” at the “guns save lives” message of the signs.  WTF? and I quote “I don’t think anybody having a gun in that lecture hall would have reduced the number of casualties”.  I’d like to ask her “So even if there was a police officer in the lecture hall you don’t think he could have maybe saved your daughters life?”  My guess is the answer would have been an emphatic “Oh well now you’re talking police… not just a regular person.”

At 2:39 we here from the website president John Boch – “Honestly, I don’t know how many guns I have.  Seriously, I don’t even know how many guns I have that I’ve never shot.”   He probably makes the mistake of dropping that witty line on all the ladies… and that’s why John Boch is married to firearms.

  1. Saw some of those signs when I had to go to IL for some work training. It was really annoying having to stay in a run-down motel in a crappy town while unarmed.

And where does that woman get off saying anyone is “blaming the victim”? We are blaming the government for restricting the right to self-defense.

  2. You know, when they bring out a survivor, or a parent of a victim, to tell us that they know for a fact that ‘another gun’ would not have saved lives, I’m sorry but I don’t think surviving a massacre or losing a child to one makes you an expert on combat or violence. It also doesn’t make you knowledgeable about the skill level of any person carries a weapon, and it doesn’t negate the documented events of nearly every recent public mass murder, where the killer commits suicide at the first sign of an effective resistance.

Trolley Square was an anomaly in this regard, because the killer tried to have a shootout with the Ken Hammond and Sgt. Oblad, but Hammond’s actions redirected the killer, forcing him to retreat into a store, and stop killing random people.

Someone needs to show her this video about Israel’s school security with videos of actual attempts to attack schools in Israel:

Also show her that school board meeting in Florida where the fat ass nutcase started shooting over his wife’s lost job. Gee, I bet they were glad that armed security guard returned fire and put him down.

Here’s an edited version of the video that doesn’t show the potential victims, but shows the shooter up close: http://youtu.be/7DRgdwy7vvE

Here’s the video that shows the wide angle shot where you can see that he was scared by the return fire from the guard and failed at his attempt to murder several people: http://youtu.be/wQjQOlJvMzE

    2. I agree. Those victims that cast all their blame at the gun could use a good 1 on 1 with Holocaust survivors who tell them they’d liked to have had them when the Nazis came a knocking.

  3. Every time a state legislature attempts to loosen gun laws with a reasonable idea, there is an outcry of blood in the streets and the pro-gun side is looking for an O.K. Corral. I think that all but the totally irrational anti-gunners are finally getting a clue that they have been suckered.

BTW, the GSL site linked to this interesting blog entry as well. He makes some valid points, such as:

Any teacher that can’t pass the [CCW] background check shouldn’t be teaching, anyway. It would also serve to weed out teachers with dubious backgrounds.

  4. Too bad the good people of Filo, Illinois have almost no voice against hordes of terrified New Yorkers, Angelinos, or Portlandians. They’re just preaching to the choir.

  5. They used t have a set of signs on westbound I-80 just west of La Grange Road. This is on the edge of Chicago suburbia, I always enjoyed seeing the signs.
