How does something like this even pop into someones head in passing thought?

When is the next military flight to Afghanistan? I’m sure some good soldiers would love to have her as a guest, and even introduce her to some of the locals after ripping her passport in half. I hear they treat women really well there, so I’m sure she will have a great life.
When Phil emailed me this story last night it was gaining steam, but the girl’s facebook page was still up. Unsurprisingly she was likely getting hammered with angry people, so it no longer exists.
Thoughts?

Id love to ship her ass to Iraq or Afghanistan, but this is just one Soldier’s point of view!
Tried to keep it PC for ya Mike I was much more to the point on FB!
Ignorant bitch, needs to have those rights taken away from her that those service men and women died protecting.
What rights do you want to take away? The first amendment? If you’re all willing to take those rights away then what rights do you claim your fighting for or protecting? The 3rd amendment? The 12th amendment? How about the 20th amendment. My bet is your G.I Joker ass is going to have to look those up.
tread lightly dville and know what the hell you are talking about first.
fuck u dude. if you cant respect someone giving their life for country then you should be forced to moved to gaza. go over there and live in a dirt house. fuck you and who birthed you.
Eh….I was a GI and I don’t need to look up amendments. Her right to free speech doesn’t make what she did right. It was disrespectful to every service member past to present and there is no way that should fly without some social (not lawful) karma. The US would be a better place if all the shit civilians who sat on their ass at home, masturbating to hentai while I was sitting behind a M2 wishing I was masturbating, would have instead elected to make a tour or two of Iraq. Then maybe, these spoiled, thankless, idiotic, self entitled, protectionist, sheeple, jizzed mouthed fucks would have an ounce of respect for the WARRIORS that fought for this country.
+1
Okay, let me see if I got this right. blah blah blah, I signed on the dotted line and joined the military so I’m special and you owe me something. blah blah blah, freedom of speech is only fought for if I agree with the speech. blah blah blah, taxpayers who paid my salary is thankless idiotic sheeple. blah blah blah.
Yeah, that about sums up the enlisted retard service of low IQ G.Is
Thanks, Dville. I agree. I enlisted into the Marine Corps 6 years ago and did my time overseas in the Infantry. It sucked, but like everyone else there, I volunteered. No one made me enlist; I did it of my own free will. While I think what she did was entirely inappropriate, it wasn’t illegal. I fucking hate her guts, but I don’t call for taking away her freedom of speech or any other rights. If any other military idiots want to beat their chests, they’re tools.
I don’t think these guys “feel special” for being in the military. I also think that this is America and this chick can say what she wants. I do think that when you see Military guys get amped up at retards like this, it is because some of us actually saw combat, and lost good friends who are buried in that cemetery or one like it. If you saw your buddy, blown up in the Hum-Vee in front of you, then saw some stupid bitch doing that at his grave site, you would probably be pretty peeved. Unless of course you are some POG ass Marine Supply Clerk who sat behind a desk his whole tour and only saw blood from his paper cuts…then I guess this wouldn’t matter much to you.
Again. blah blah blah, I was in combat I’m special you people are lazy and owe me something. Same old story you keep telling. You signed on the dotted line. You knew what you were signing up for.
I challenge you to express these views at your local VFW or better yet drive up to any vet and feel free to tell them again how they all feel people owe them things!
As someone who served and didn’t do much more than try to cut holes in water with a great big boat, I feel the need to speak out.
I come from a very long line of American sailors. Some where technicians, welders, mechanics, some were construction workers during the Pacific Island hopping campaigns during WWII. My nephew just went in, making 7 generations. Nothing would make me more proud than to have had a son who’d give 4 years of his life to his country in one of the noblest ways imaginable.
I could bore you and the rest of the crew here with stories about standing at the end of the pier, watching the Carrier Task Groups heading off to Vietnam, crying with my classmates wondering is we’d ever see out fathers again.
I could bore you with stories of watching the USS Oriskany pulling into San Francisco, and being thankful that my father wasn’t stationed on it that horrible October day when so many gave their lives, and having friends who did.
I could bore you with stories about being admitted into the pediatric ward at Oakland Naval Hospital, and watching the young Marines in the ward next door going thru physical therapy with their new prosthesis, and being thankful that none of them were friends or family members.
I could bore you with stories about sitting off the coast of Petropavlovsk at night, in a plywood boat older than I was at the time and with the knowledge that no one could help if something went horribly wrong.
But even if I did, you will never understand the bond between people who’ve shared these common experiences. A bond that crosses all socio-economic, religious or racial boundaries, and is passed down from generation to generation.
There are tons of quotes attributed to American Sailors over the past 237 years. The two best that come to mind are attributed to President John Kennedy:
“Events of October 1962 indicated, as they had all through history, that control of the sea means security. Control of the seas can mean peace. Control of the seas can mean victory. The United States must control the seas if it is to protect your security….”
“I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: ‘I served in the United States Navy.’”
She is just plain stupid. I don’t blame her, I blame her parents. I’m ashamed for her, and I’m very disappointed she didn’t come across one of the guards while doing so.
Isn’t that Cindy Sheehan? LOL
Don’t you know that my own sense of right and wrong justifies anything I do or say? Get with the relativism, man!
Seriously, beyond the sophomoric pose, what I find most distasteful is that she posted it to Facebook. I suppose she expected that everyone would find it just as funny as she did. People like this don’t even conceive that they are being offensive. People like this don’t even conceive that there may be legitimate viewpoints other than their own.
I don’t see the problem here. Didn’t the military fight to protect our rights, that’s what they’re always claiming? I guess they don’t like the first amendment. It’s funny how butthurt these guys will get when people exercise their rights; the rights they fought to protect.
If you really don’t see the problem your part of it. I guess I shouldn’t feed the trolls.
This is freedom of speech, plane and simple. And the only problem is people like you who only seem to support the First Amendment when the opinion being expressed is in total lockstep with your own.
I’m a Soldier, and I think this girl is an idiot. But wishing violence or harm upon what’s a best a stupid picture is even worse.
Grow up people.
As I said before, she’s getting her dues from her peers….which is why her Facebook page is down. Think she will do it again? Doubtful, but who knows. It’s her right to make an unlikeable ass out of herself….and disrespecting like that alienates her to like 90% of the US population.
I see your point in the aspect that she shouldn’t be jailed for this, it being her right. However any asshole who wants to disrespect those who fight for that right should be socially hammered by pissed off people especially vets; because it’s fucking wrong – and everyone else has the right to call her a piece of shit for doing it.
There’s freedom and then there’s right from wrong.
Pretty much how I’m looking at this. Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
With that being said, what a stupid cunt…
Freedom of speech also doesn’t exempt you from other’s freedom to criticize what you say or do. By putting this on a public forum like Facebook, she was inviting the criticism herself, ESPECIALLY if she didn’t set her profile on private (like so many people fail to do — by no fault of their own since Facebook seems to like resetting that every so often).
Guardian of Valor has been all over this so much that the local news picked it up http://boston.cbslocal.com/2012/11/20/facebook-photo-of-plymouth-woman-at-tomb-of-the-unknowns-sparks-outrage/
Here’s their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/StolenValor?ref=ts&fref=ts
I would have busted this skank in the face, personally .. and not lost a wink of sleep in jail that night. Matter of fact, pretty sure my bond would have already been paid.
This isn’t a 1st amendment issue. She’s not there making a political statement. She’s there being a troll, an ass, and an idiot. She’s not some great leader making a point, she’s just an ignorant bitch. For that, there are a lot of people who SHOULD be using their first amendment rights to call her an idiot for it.
Whats the context here? Did her step daddy whos was banging her in the ass when she was 9 get buried here? If so i am fine with it, is it just do the opposite of a sign day? is she some anti war hippy?
Cant really decide until i know more.
She is trying to be edgy. Supposedly there is a picture of her smoking in front of a ‘No Smoking’ sign.
Wow she’s so edgy. Her next trick will be to stomp a puppy in front of PETA.
hahaha!
“Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.”
She has arms like a lunch lady and jeans from Walmart… pre-karma.
what a oddly shaped thing.
The Constitution grants us freedom of speech, but it does not say you will not ever be held accountable for that speech!
lets face it she is white trash, and to have the thought of doing this tells me that she has some serious problems in her life and is prolly not a happy person. I mean what does that say about a person when you make the effort to go to this cemetary so you can do an stupid disrecpectful pose? serioulsy i wonder if she had it planned and like looked foward to it for like a week then she was like yeah its sat. time to go to the cem. and do something disrespectful. she will get hammered for it. and that pic will follow her for the rest of her life. so really she hurt herself.
What a shame. I was stationed at Ft. Myer/Myer-Henderson Hall, VA. From my barracks room window, you could see Arlington National Cemetery, approx 60 yards away. I’ve spent hours walking and running thorough the entire cemetery, paying my respects along the way. Tens of thousands of people visit the cemetery, from around the world…and I have never seen anyone show this kind of disrespect…it’s obvious she thought she’d be cool and pose for the photo. Not so cool now, though.
What an idiot. She’s paying the social price now, and thats some consolation, but jesus, how dumb is she? My grandfathers and great grandfathers, all of whom fought in WW1, WW2, and korea, would be ashamed to have fought for a country that now harbors these sorts of people. Makes me embarrassed to be human looking at this pic, knowing that as a species we are capable of producing beings that show this degree of mental incompetence. People like *this* will be the downfall of western civilization, I feel like I’ve been shown a screenshot from the movie ‘idiocracy’. Alas, I have not.
They should hang her from the flag pole next to where she did that
These are the type of ppl whose personal info should be plastered all over the Internet. I am really against doing it to our own gun community but these ppl deserve to be chastized
Ooooo-wee. Tough one. How’s that 1st Amendment holding up for everyone?
My knee-jerk was to get pissed off. But then I gave it a minute. From what I can tell she isn’t causing anyone harm (except herself), so I say no victim / no crime.
I suspect there are an equal number of folks who would be outraged by a picture of me toting my SGL21 into a daycare (or wherever) to pick up my daughter.
Same same. Inflammatory.
Feminist, pro-abortion, gay friendly, Obama-lovin’ liberal democrat. Nothing to see here folks. Just keep this pic on record if there is ever a day of reckoning in this country.
What a dumb cunt. That moon-face, that flabby build, those canned ham arms, you can just tell she’s an annoying bitch. Small comfort – thanks to the power of Google her stupidity will be archived for all times!
The First Amendment only prevents the government from infringing free speech and expression. Her fellow citizens can react to her speech however they will without implicating the 1A unless they do it on behalf of the state.
I’m embarrassed for her. Fucking bitch.
An apology from Lindsey Stone:
“We sincerely apologize for all the pain we have caused by posting the picture we took in Washington DC on Facebook. While posted on a public forum, the picture was intended only for our own amusement. We never meant any disrespect to any of the people nationwide who have served this country and defended our freedom so valiantly. It was meant merely as a visual pun, intending to depict the exact opposite of what the sign said, and had absolutely nothing to do with the location it was taken or the people represented there. We never meant to cause any harm or disrespect to anyone, particularly our men and women in uniform. We realize it was in incredibly poor taste, and are deeply sorry for the offense we have caused.
We also sincerely apologize to LIFE, Inc. It is an amazing organization that provides invaluable services to adults with learning and developmental disabilities. We are beyond remorseful that our actions have caused them such undue public scrutiny. The disrespect implied by our picture has nothing at all to do with LIFE’s mission statement or values. We regret having caused any suffering to the staff members, residents, families and friends.
Again, we very sincerely apologize to everyone who took offense to the photo. We realize that it was an ignorant and distasteful thing for us to do, but we truly meant no harm. We are deeply sorry.”
“… the picture was intended only for our own amusement. …”
Which one of their lawyers let that line get by? Jeez.
In 1983 I married a police officer’s widow, and adopted her two children, raising them as my own and standing with my wife in the ensuing 29 years. And I can tell you that it hurts like hell every year when “the day” rolls around: time can be terribly transparent to pain. In 1994 I buried one of my firefighters–one of 38 killed on wildfires that year; and lost another friend on Storm King Mountain, then weeks later buried my best friend in the Forest Service–one of three killed in an aviation accident. And I just buried my dad, a career soldier wounded twice in Germany and twice in Korea. This woman is obviously ignorant of the reason for “silence and respect” being sought in Arlington. But it is good that she has directly apologized and I will take her apology and accept it at face value. As to other consequences, I leave it to her employer but I’d be hard-pressed to not fire her: forgiveness deals with reconciliation; it may or may not bear on the consequences of an incredibly ignorant action. Yes, it’s conduct protected by the First Amendment, but that only means the government can’t punish her. Her boss could fire her without the slightest offense to the Constitution.
And look, no ring on her finger. I wonder why. Bitch.
I see people do stupid shit all day long at my jobs… But this is worse. I guess she was just clowning the sign but, remember where you are! Number one- It’s a cemetary… Number two- It’s Arlington National Cemetary… and Number three- At least one of the two of them (the photographer) should have had some common sense between them to see how disrespectful this photo is. Common sense: It’s what makes you think, “Would I like someone doing this at my family-members’ gravesite.”
Oh, and Dumbville Rockhead is either a straight idiot who has been living off the rest of us who actually provide service/assistance to humanity… or just a teenage troll
and people thought facebook was only for finding out what that kid who sat behind you in history 15yrs ago was having for supper last Tuesday.
I hope someone photoshops a cock in her mouth.
I don’t see anyone calling for the government to sanction her in any way, so I’m slightly confused about anyone tossing the “Freedom of Speech/First Amendment” argument into the game. She’s a shameless troll who’ll be hounded to the ends of the earth for it. And rightfully so. She’s the type who’ll scream at someone demanding respect, but doesn’t even begin to understand what respect means. I feel for her and her type, but they’re our future. God help us all.
When I was stationed at Fort Myer, as we spent a lot of time in Arlington Cemetery because it was 300 feet from our barracks. We did stuff at least that tasteless, and plenty that was worse.
For all of this hand-wringing and moral outrage, she’s behaving exactly like a soldier; rowdy, impulsive and irreverent. It doubt that she even made a noise, or that anyone saw this little snapshot.
She posted the pic on her Facebook Page.
I mean at Arlington.
It does not excuse this behavior.
I don’t see any violation of the Constitution in her stupidity.
However, I have no problem with her employer sanctioning her for what she did. She was on a company paid trip, and her actions bringing shame and degradation on my company, would be grounds for dismissal. Just like a salesman getting sloppy drunk in front of an important customer.
She is generally bringing embarrassment on to the company’s reputation.
You know society is going to shit I pray the end times are near.. its time to thin the heard.. one idiot and one bullet at a time..
You sir, are a fucking whack job. I’d take “disrespectful” idiots like her over bloodthirsty maniacs who want to immanentize the fucking eschaton and then go on a shooting spree, because someone flipped the bird on camera in a cemetery. What a twat you are.
032125 tough talk on a blog fuck head
Tough talk? Really? Pointing our your lunacy is not interwebz toughguyism. No threats, no inferences; just incredulity. This is what interwebz toughguys sound like:
“its time to thin the heard.. one idiot and one bullet at a time…”
“I would have busted this skank in the face”
“They should hang her”
I only said the top one but thanks for all the credit.. and it wasn’t towards her only!
Clever. Very clever. Indeed.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. This lady is finding out that, while you have the freedom to act like a total asshat, there are consequences to your actions. Freedom = Responsibility, fuck her if she lacked common sense and foresight enough to have stopped and thought things through, now she has to deal with the fallout.
“Everything in life is a graded event. There are no retests.”
I reckon she failed the shit outta this one.
Id be in prison and them in the dirt so yes u are 100% right
This summed it up beautifully
http://www.waaf.com/Why-you-don-t-joke-around-at-Arlington-National-Ce/11280151?pid=279899
Over the last few days, many people have asked me what I thought about “the girl from Plymouth”. You know, the one yelling and flipping off the camera at Arlington National Cemetery, in front of the sign that says Silence and Respect. Lindsey Stone is her name and if you didn’t know it before, after the news tonight, you will. This story has taken on a life of it’s own, and it’s only getting worse for Lindsey. Her and her co-worker, who were on a business trip last month in DC, when they visited Arlington and took the photo, are now both on unpaid leave from their jobs. The organization Living Independantly Forever, had to release a statement on their Facebook page condemning the photo, and stating that their employees actions do not reflect the company, or their stance on Veterans etc. There is even a page on Facebook, asking for their firing, and it has over 10,000 “likes” already.
So, how do I feel about it? Well, up until she posted the photo on her Facebook page, and all hell broke loose, I think Lindsey Stone was one of the luckiest people on the planet.
First, she is a woman, born in the U.S.A.., which the odds are against in the grand scheme of things. She could have been born in Afghanistan, China, or in the Congo, where she would have led a very different life. She could have been born in N. Korea, or Iran where I’m sure they do not look kindly at disrespecting their war heroes. Here in the U.S.A.., what she did isn’t a crime, it’s protected by the First Amendment.
Second, in one of the most tragic economies America has ever seen, Lindsey is employed, at what looks like an amazing organization, that is really helping people and changing the world for the better. How many of us can say that about where we work?
And finally Lindsey, judging by her actions alone, has made it through life without knowing anyone in uniform. That has to be the case right? I mean, how could she have family who has served in previous wars and do what she did? Or, how could she know someone now that is currently serving, after 10+ years of war and terror, and make the trip to Arlington and do what she did?
She’s never had to say goodbye, or cry herself to sleep worrying. She’s never packed a care package, or written a love letter to someone far away. She’s never had to pray for a Skype call, or be afraid of the doorbell in the middle of the night. She’s never had to see someone she loves go and look evil in the eye, only to come home a different person.
And most importantly, she’s never attended a funeral, where a flag is given to a crying widow, or mother “On behalf of a grateful nation”.
She doesn’t know anyone buried at Arlington, except for the few that she learned about in school like JFK. She probably doesn’t even know what Section 60 is.
How lucky for her!
She’s part of the 99% that don’t have someone they love, in harms way. How amazing for her. Up until a month ago, Lindsey Stone was living the American dream. The dream where Memorial Day and Veterans Day means long weekends off for BBQing, beer drinking, and good deals on new cars. Up until a month ago, Lindsey Stone wasn’t afraid. Now, as the hours go by, she learns more and more that her “innocent” joke, wasn’t a joke at all. Somehow, she made it through the gates at Arlington, and wasn’t overcome with the sadness and loss that everyone else feels. But, now she feels sadness and loss… and regret too I bet.
When I first saw that photo, I thought it was a photo shopped joke, or a cruel prank. I even gave her the benefit of the doubt that she could be the victim in all of this. That someone took her picture and put it in front of that sign, to try and make her look bad. Obviously, that is not the case. This photo will follow her for the rest of her life. Every time she applies for a job, or applies for a loan it will come up. When her kids Google their Mom, that will be the first picture they see. Her name will be remembered, and she’ll be treated differently by anyone who remembers… forever.
She released a statement on Facebook saying that it was a joke, and that they were just acting like “douchebags”…and that they meant no disrespect. Lindsey, you’re right… you were acting like douchebags. You came up with the idea for the picture, you took the picture, and then you posted the picture online, and at no time did you think for a second… THIS ISN’T A GOOD IDEA!?! How comfy that little bubble that you live in must be!
Do I think that Lindsey Stone is the most evil person in the world? No! I am confident that there are people way more evil than she is. Arlington is filled with the bodes of those who died fighting that evil.
Do I think she is one of the dumbest? Yes, she probably is.
Like I said, up until she posted that picture, Lindsey Stone was one of the luckiest people on the planet…
Nicely said Joe
The problem that most people do not understand is that you have the right to free speech, however, you still have to face the consequences of your actions. You have the right to say/do any stupid thing you want, but have to realize that you will face the reaction of those around you positive or negative.
stupid people gonna stupid
I don’t give a flying fuck why she did it. It’s irrelevant. My grandfather is buried there, my uncle is buried there, and one day…I’ll be buried there.
All gave some, some gave all. She gave none so what gives her the fucking goddamn right to flip anyone off? It’s not just a cemetery…it’s Arlington National Cemetery. Think about it. It’s where our heroes are buried. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines. They gave their life, their youth, their blood. Their families gave their loved ones. They all lost so that this bitch could do what she did….just great. That’s fucking fair!
She is as irrelevant as a gnat on a dogs dick.
Blah blah blah blah…i knew it was a dangerous job…blah blah. I volunteered…blah blah…but heres the thing dickface, i took the job KNOWING I MAY GIVE MY LIFE! I would gladly lay my life down any day!! what does that say about you? cowards will always make excuses for their sorry lives. Hope you like sitting behind your desk in your Cushy little corner office banging your secretary behind your wife’s back. My brothers (and sisters) in arms insure your right to do so. In return is it too much to ask for some quiet and respect by our gravesites? Wow!!!just wow!!! its not ok to be disrespectful. Show some fucking respect.
33D1 Out!
Dang I am a OIF combat veteran of the 101st Airborne and saw this photo and had to make sure this ignorant, ungrateful, disgusting, disgrace, of a person can leave AMERICA THE HOME OF THE BRAVE any time she wants no one is stopping her. And great display of the freedom to express which lazy freeloaders always think they have some right to ever say anything but thank you to any veterans especially to those Brave honorable men an women resting in peace as true Heros and Saviors of Freedom and everything America stands for really makes me sad because she as well as lots of other people cant ever even slightly at all grasp the concept of true reality of this world or the super luxury of how great America is even if your homeless here and that I can vouch for. Sorry for the long post I could of said it all in a few choice words but shes not even worth the raise of my blood pressure thaks for exposing this.
