More than 20 women and children have died and dozens others were injured when traditional celebratory gunfire at a Saudi wedding brought down an electric cable causing a fire to break out. A total of 23 people – believed to be mostly women – were electrocuted when bullets caused the high-voltage power line to fall on to a metal door at the wedding in eastern Saudi Arabia.

Wow, who ever would have thought something bad would come from dozens of guys firing automatic weapons into the air? Seems perfectly safe. *eye roll*
Typical that only women and children would have died. I hope those guys think about that every day for the rest of their lives.
Two great past examples of Saudi’s cheating death with firearms can be seen HERE and HERE.
Thoughts?

Man I want to go to one of those weddings! Things always get interesting at the reception. Takbir Allahukbar!!!
“Typical that only women and children would have died. I hope those guys think about that every day for the rest of their lives.”
doubt it. im no expert on middle-eastern culture, but i think a thin woman in a burkha looks the same. i assume the men over there think that too.
I’m not an expert either, but even though women have very few rights and are viewed as property, I’m guessing that any men that lost their wives and children in this debacle are going to notice the loss.
I also know that “aiming” isn’t exactly part of their culture either, but come on people, would it have hurt to point in the general direction away from power lines and such.
Oh, i doubt they will notice it, its not as if any of their goats got hurt.
I can imagine some liberal saying something stupid about americans and guns…. just show them these wedding videos.
What they forgot to mention is that in keeping with traditional islamic culture, the women and children were locked in a steel closet (“courtyard”)
yeah that sucks. ugh.
Remember kids, don’t shoot at power lines. Oh, they’re all dead, never mind.
OMG! So wrong it’s funny.
I laughed hard, way too hard, I was also at work…which made it even more inappropriate
A Dothraki wedding without at least three deaths is deemed a dull affair.
Way to stay classy, guys.
Fucking idiots!
Are women and children even considered people in Saudi Arabia?
The few christian, buddist or hindu ones would be, the rest, who cares?
Why would the Saudi Arabian government not consider good Muslim women and children to be people but recognize infidel women and children as people?
considered by me, i should have clarified that.
Short answer; yes. Longer answer:

Full answer not possible.
I wish more of them would do the same save the US billions.
Derps and guns dont mix. Women and children are expendable in moose-limb culture, so the husbands who killed them wont care.
Science fiction writer Robert Anson Heinlein is sometimes quoted as stating (or writing), “ignorance is its own death sentence.”
I suppose we can read about Darwin awards and laugh, once in a while… but it’s impossible to have a laugh knowing that women and kids are dead because the men in this culture absolutely CANNOT behave like responsible adults.
Buddy just pointed out that the above incident is, and I quote, a “damned good reason to keep so-called muslim culture as far away from Western civilization as possible.”
I’ll be fucked if I can possibly come up with a counter-arguement.
I think I need a drink, dammit.
Stay safe, all of you.

+1
I remember in IRAQ when we were doing DAs, some of the guys in the rooms would hide behind their wives and/or children…using them as human shields. Thinking we were there to kill any males of military age. Fucking cowards. Who does that shit? Pieces of shit!
So, women and children don’t rank very high in their culture. Sad.
