This guy is eccentric, which makes him fun to watch:
An inventor from Northern Ontario, Canada who’s hell bent on constructing a RoboCop suit to make Canadian military troops invincible in war. Here’s a glimpse of the saga of Troy Hurtubise – the man, the dreamer, the legend.
I love how his inspiration came from Robocop. Interesting how he was willing to give the technology over to the Canadian government and they couldn’t care less apparently. If what he has is as good as he says it is, i’m surprised some big American outfit hasn’t come knocking. I’m glad to see he hasn’t given up.
There is a book and a movie about his work on Project Grizzly.
Thoughts? Is he nuts, or does he actually have something?

He’s like a redneck Tony Stark, and I would gladly watch any show he’s in.
“Redneck Tony Stark,” awesome line.
Nailed it.
He can draw and throw his knife faster than I can draw and fire my 1911? Challenge accepted.
This suit might be a good idea for studying bears. Not so much for warfare. At least not until they perfect the flight controls. Imagine walking up mountains all day in Trashcanistan while wearing that suit. Any volunteers?
He has conviction, and one bitchin’ mullet. I’d say he’s on to something. All real cutting edge scientists are a little crazy. And he is definitely a little crazy.
Pretty interesting actually;
Here’s the full movie:

Yea, he’s gonna be grizzly shit someday.
From what I can gather his inspiration came from the grizzly encounter and he named it thus. That doesn’t mean he intends this to be just for grizzly encounters…
I learned long ago never count out anyone who is batshit crazy.
He can draw and throw his knife faster than I can yawn, scratch myself, and draw my pistol. His overhand toss is faster than I can press check, decock, recock, and fire my pistol.
‘Northern Ontario’ thats all you need to know, the sanity of people up here wanes the further up into the rocks and trees you go.
Until its long lasting self powered its not practical.
Unless its used for something specific like EOD.
He looks like a Bad Ass Patrick Swayze.
Ha Ha took the words from my mouth!~
I had no idea “Hot Rod 2” was in development! Awesome!
I remember taking an animation class almost 10 years ago and they were showing us videos of this guy getting beat up in his suit as reference. They did do some gun tests too but it was mainly showing pistols.
I want to see it stand up to a barrage from a PKM. I have my doubts it could…
That’s one crazy canuk. Heard about this bear suit idea years ago, seemed like a silly idea if only because I can’t imagine a bear hanging around with some crazy person in an armored suit.
Some weeks ago I saw a show where they used a remote control vehicle to get up and close with polar bears. Sometimes the machine would tip over and the bears would dust off the lens and send it on it’s way. That seems much more pratical than anything I saw here.
This guy IS on to something. Sure it’s bulky and lacks flexibility, but if he can make this into a real armor system and integrate this into the army’s skeleton suit, what would it matter. If he can soak up bullets all day, cover is irrelevent, and that soldier can get close enough to spray and pray, let alone if they hook a camera to the gun and add a HUD on the headgear.
No. Cover will never be irrelevant. It’s never a good idea to let someone shoot at you.
Spray and pray? Please.
This seems like the plot of an 80s action movie. Martial arts practitioner gets attacked and builds an armored suit to get revenge. Except in this case he’s fighting bears instead of ninjas/drug cartel member/gangsters/evil industrialists.
Can he make it agile and resistant to 50 BMG? If not, then the suits can be picked off at long range in the same way that light armoured fighting vehicles are vulnerable.
There is a reason we don’t have “walker” tanks, no one wants to be walking around in a high profile bullet magnet suit that cannot use cover or concealment.
Is there a trap door for when you shit yourself?
need a front trap too, to take a leak.
I’m sorry, but after he said he only had his grade 10 I couldn’t think of anything other than the Trailer Park Boys and Ricky going back to school from that point forward. If you don’t know what I’m talking about Netflix is your friend.
Same here…love the show.

I thought the clay tests were pretty convincing (unless he figured out a way to cheat)
I actually wanted to watch more.. lol
This guy is fucking batshit crazy.
He’s a pathological lier that was abandoned by his family because he spent all their money on stupid projects.
He also claims that he built laser machines that cure cancer, in his garage.
Tesla was crazy. Einstein was crazy. Westinghouse and Eddison were batshit crazy. Every scientist is a nutjob until they ain’t so nutjob anymore. Usually after they die and someone else picks up the tech and figures a way to market it.
Meh, Honey Badger don’t give a shit.
I’ve seen some of this guy’s videos before, back when his suit looked like master chief from HALO. Last I heard he was planning on doing a live test on an IUD while wearing the suit.
A live test on an intrauterine device? :D
A while back I saw a video where he sat in a pick up truck with nothing between him and an IED but 5 inches of his “step armor” and he walked away from it without a scratch. Unless he’s bullshiting us with plates of interceptor armor under that foam armor I’d say he is on to something.
It’s not practical enough for combat. At least no in its present form. He needs a fresh take on it. But I reckon he’s too prideful or stubborn or both to allow outsiders to evaluate it and make recommendations. But that’s what I’m assuming.
If he cant make it more mobile or smaller, he’s just reinvented the EOD blast suit.lol
Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
