Brad Pitt Speaks On Firearms And Violence In Society

I like Brad Pitt more and more every time new info comes out about him.

DailyMail interviewed him and asked some hard hitting questions about his thoughts on guns, gun laws, violence etc.. and here are some of his answers:

When asked about violence in film, specifically Killing Them Softly (one he produced):

“It’s a violent world we live in, I don’t agree with trying to hide that or cover it up.”

Interestingly enough the article states that was before the Aurora CO James Holmes killings, and Pitt stood by what he said when they asked him the question again after.

He doesn’t believe US gun laws should be changed:

America is a country founded on guns. It’s in our DNA. It’s very strange but I feel better having a gun. I really do. I don’t feel safe, I don’t feel the house is completely safe, if I don’t have one hidden somewhere. That’s my thinking, right or wrong.

I got my first BB gun (a type of air gun) when I was in nursery school. I got my first shotgun by first grade (aged six), I had shot a handgun by third grade (aged eight) and I grew up in a pretty sane environment.

I was in the UK when the shootings happened and I did hear the discussion about gun control start again, and as far as I know it petered out as it always does.  It’s just something with us. To turn around and ask us to give up our guns… I don’t know, we’re too afraid that we’re going to give up ours and the bad guys are still going to get theirs. It’s just in our thinking. I’m telling you, we don’t know America without guns.

If you have time you should read the entire article over at DailyMail.  Also noteworthy is the fact that Pitt apparently spent £250,000 (~$400,000) on a shooting range and armory at their Southern France house (hahah yea definitely enough room for one here), as a wedding present for his fiance Angelina Jolie.

What’s not to like about this guy?

He’s got everything a guy wants. Great job, hot wife, enough money to spend on whatever he wants, living in what many consider some of the most beautiful parts of the world, and can get to shoot guns on his own property. The only thing I wish he would do is be more open about gun rights/ownership and help stop/slow down all this UN Small Arms Treaty or any of the anti-gun stuff that’s been going on.

    1. Agreed. If the anti-war nutjobs get Alec Baldwin and George Clooney we should be allowed Brad Pitt.

  2. Class act

  3. He is the only actor I actually care about. Much respect.

  4. You guys *do* know that’s a pellet gun he’s holding, right? :)

    Doc.

That may be all you’re allowed for home defense in France.

    2. I noticed RIGHT away, I would know that goofy slide anywhere. Marksman .177 repeater, single shot with a single breach fed pellet, or as a bb repeater from a small reservoir. Spent many a summer afternoon shooting one of these into a foam trap in the garage when I was younger.

    3. Didn’t care a bit. I figured it was just a movie clip from “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” or something, not a real pic of Brad and Angie at home.

      Guy’s OK.

    4. that was the first thing i noticed when i saw this picture. i used to shoot that same pellet gun when i was a kid

  5. I think in France you can purchase Sound Suppressor over the counter with out government control.

    1. That’s pretty common in Europe. It’s seen as helping to keep down noise levels. I think the thought process is why regulate suppressors when it’s so hard to get a gun anyway.

    2. Yeah, since they don’t immediate think of it as an assassin’s tool but rather a safety device for your ears.

  6. “You used the wrong version of by” “Pitt stood buy what he said”

Thanks! I tend to make stupid typos and overlook them when I attempt to proof read.

  7. I want to buy that guy a beer.

  8. Brad Pitt is a stud muffin and now, I like him even more.

  9. Definitely has the right idea. I’d also like to buy Tom Selleck a beer.

  10. her arm looks like it is from a guy that starved to death

    1. Aye. Francis Bacon said that “there is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion” and while women like Jolee and Johansson prove that, that kind of exotic beauty ages like milk rather than wine. Brigitte Bardot was that way; stunning young, shocking old. Jolee will be a terrifying cadaverous apparition by the time she hits 60.

Anyhow, good for Brad. He’s a pimp.

      1. Very well put sir.

  11. Except he’s still a big Obama pusher; of course, if Obama gets another four and tries to trash the 2nd, Pitt & Jolie will still be able to have their guns and range in France, so maybe he doesn’t care.

  12. Everyone is missing the point..the safety nazis haven’t posted about his trigger finger!
Mainly because his finger isn’t on the trigger, but what if it was? *dun dun dunnnnn*
