A recent video put out by an anti-gun group GunWar:
haha how poorly done. Not only does the one narrator suck, but as weer’d mentioned in his post they got their “facts” completely wrong. The ATF allowed these straw purchases to happen because they wanted to track the guns to high level traffickers and key figures in the Mexican cartels. So much for the scary part of the video.
Oh yea and that’s what I based the Run Guns t-shirt on… I now only have Small in stock of that, but get your name on the waiting list because the re-up should arrive soon.
Thoughts?

There is a demand for weapons in Mexico because there is a demand for drugs in America. Lets make no mistake here, these gun grabbers don’t really give a shit about Mexico. The pretext for taking your rights away will always be “Security”. Legalizing Marijuana would cut Cartel profits by at most 70% or at least 60%. SO with less money the cartels will not be able to purchase weapons or pay for soldiers. So what do you say? Legalize the Marijuana so these gun grabbers can shut the hell up already!
Except they made no attempts to track the guns once they crossed the border. They just waited for the Mexican government (who had no knowledge of the operation) to return them for tracing.
Actually, stricter border control and mandatory reporting of bulk purchases… not so stupid ideas really.
I mean, we all need an AR-15 or two. Different guns for different setups. Do we need to buy them in sixpacks? Nopes. I’m guessing most honest americans can’t even afford to buy a bunch of AR’s at a time.
Neither of these suggestions infringe on 2nd amendment rights. They just stick it to border traffickers and rich assholes who can afford to buy 10-20 AR’s at a time :p
so you want more gun laws because you are bitter over the fact that you cannot afford to buy several AR-15s…….
what if i happen to be wealthy and i am going hog hunting with some buddies, so i buy a few extra AR-15s for them to borrow, should my purchase be reported to the govt?
ok, what if i want to buy a crate of Mosins? should my purchase be reported to the govt?
what if i get a good deal on AR-lowers and i buy 6-7 of them at a time, does the govt need to know?
I would be ok with border control and reporting of purchases of more than 5 guns at a time so long as that report would not be legal probable cause.
I will pay the sales tax, I will fill out the 4473. But I do not like the idea of any person or agency prying into an otherwise legal transaction. Reporting multiple sales can very easily turn into “why do you need so many guns” “what are you going to do with them all” “do we need to keep and eye on you” and so on. You give govt regulators an inch and they will take a marathon. If I want to walk into Cabela’s with a freshly cashed Powerball ticket and say “box em all up, I’ll bring around the UHaul” beyond the 4473, thats nobody’s business but mine and gun counter manager.
Doesnt the DPMS statistic assume that they only sell dirt cheap ars?
Who would buy a DPMS for $889!?!?!
if, every friday a guy walks into your store and buys 4 ars or ak clones, i hope someone finds it suspicious and tells somebody.
If every Friday, someone exercises their rights to freedom of speech or religion 4 times. I hope someone finds it suspicious and they tell somebody.
Who should they tell? The ‘Federal Beureu of Legal but Suspicious Activity Investigation?’
Dumn video.
Wonder how many of the guns “traced back to the US” were sent to central and south america during the 1980’s. I know more and more East Bloc and ChiCom grenades and explosives keep popping up, stuff that they sent over to Nicaragua during the same time frame.
70% of the guns “submitted for tracing”. As I recall the feds only submitted about 4 guns for tracing. What a bogus video.
I wonder what would happen if Mexico had similar gun laws to the U.S.?
Let’s see — there were 60,000 firearm deaths, in five years, in Mexico with only one legal gun store and a population of about 110M. Meanwhile in the USA there were about 50,000 firearm deaths out of a population of 310M in the same time frame.
Yes the U.S. number is deplorable. But I wonder how many deaths were done with other weapons in Mexico?
And what that says about Mexico and an essentially unarmed population?
It would be more honest if this issue was discussed in it’s entirety. The full story is this:
1. Americans want drugs and have the money to pay for them.
2. Mexico is relatively poor and very corrupt with minimal law enforcement. It is very profitable for Mexican drug cartels to grow, manufacture, and traffic drugs to the US.
3. Mexican drug cartels are violent and ruthless and want weapons to further their criminal enterprise.
4. In the US weapons are available due to the 2nd Amendment.
Result: Drugs flow from Mexico to US and money and some guns flow from the US to Mexico. Resulting in plenty of drugs in the US and plenty of murders in Mexico.
So who are we going to blame for all of this and why?
Americans for using drugs? That seems to be the source of the whole problem.
Mexico for being corrupt and effectivly lawless? Another key ingredient to this mess.
Blame the drug cartels for being bad guys?
,or Blame the US for having legally available firearms?
The reality is that there are three issues at play here. Drugs, corruption, and guns. But all the left wants to talk about is guns, go figure.
Well said sir.
