What? Black powder is explosive? Who would have thought…
Of course there’s the classic shaky camera, and no footage after the event. I think it’s safe to say the guy shooting filled his lungs white smoke at the very least, and possibly even got some bad burns in the process judging by the flames at around 0:06. No safety glasses on either… not ideal.
Has anyone else witnessed, or done something similar?

fight the powders that be.
where was the explosion?
So, somehow he set his black powder container on the bench on fire. strange.
Despite him saying he was ready…somehow I don’t think he was ready for that.
lol@this
I laughed at this as well. Good show.
Looks like he had a box of powder pellets open on the table next to him and a spark got into it.
It didn’t explode per se; it deflagrated.
Cheap lesson compared to some he might have learned.
^^^This.
His gun didn’t explode; the Pyrodex pellets on the table caught fire.
It’s normal, technically speaking, black powder doesn’t explode, it burns very quickly and releases a lot of exhaustion gas.
This is what we can see. The whole thing is set on fire, and burns…
exhaustion gas. is that like when you fart in bed?
When not contained in a cartridge/chamber the difference in burn characteristics between Black Powder and Gun Powder is very distinct. Gun powder, and BP subs like Pyrodex, burn. Black powder explodes.
Once again this is Babcock Webb WMA gun range near Fort Myers Florida….which just so happens to be the same range that the Zboyco bafoons (of youtube fame) frequent
if people keep doin dumb stuff like this guy and zboyco, they’re gonna shut webb down
Thanks Pikid.. wait until you see the video i’m posting of theirs tonight.
This sort of crap along with Nobody AT ALL showing any kind of safe gun handling is why I quit going to the local public range and ponied up the $ to join a members only range that enforces basic safety rules. The things I saw at the public range gave me nightmares. Mostly people were just ignorant and would take some polite advice, but other times I left to avoid idiots…
He gave the classic idiotic grin, foreshadowing some sort of accident…
aye
Public shooting ranges are just like public golf courses; Full of people that have no idea what they’re doing. But I’m cheap and I will just have to put up with their shit.
Strictly speaking, it was an explosion. The definition of an explosion is not as specific as people may think.
Public ranges are like assholes. Wait, I mean they are full of assholes.
There are two types of public range, one where the range officers don’t care and accidents happen all the time. The other is where the range officers care too much and won’t let anyone shoot at a rate faster than one round per minute, even with a semi-auto.
^^^^ Yes, this.
You cannot imagine my disappointment when I went to my buddy’s house and we had to shoot on a members only range. The RO was 259 years old and would not let me shoot my MP5-22 more than once every time his heart monitor went off.He also spent most of his time telling the group that there was no reason to own guns with such large “clips”. Then on to telling my wife how to shoot a rifle, despite her also being a former sgt. in the Army. “Get your elbow way out like this” old school chicken-wing style. We’re not going back.
You should have told that fucking fudd to get the fuck out of your face.
Better yet, let your wife tell him.
