Epic Beard Man The Movie

Starring Danny “bad ass” Trejo:

If you’ve already forgot about Epic Beard man, watch the beat down he delivered to a punk on the public transit in Oakland a couple years ago.

Hopefully an Amberlaps scene is included.. I’d die laughing…

UPDATE: OMG… IMDB lists a female character named “Amber Lamps” rofl…

It won’t win an Oscar, but it looks like it could be a modern day “Falling Down

Thoughts?

  1. The trouble is that Epic Beard man turned out to be a violent racist nutter, and the guy he beat up turned out to be a relatively decent guy.

As long as you can ignore that, the idea of an angry old dude kicking ass sounds fun.

    1. Uh? No, the guy who got his ass kicked pull the race card by changing is language in an interview. In the bus video he’s just another angry homie flipping out using his street talk, but in a radio/tv interview he changes his tone IMMEDIATELY. Oh yeah, he swung first.

Epic Beard man said things that were bad. The bottom line is that EBM’s behavior during and after the fight seemed consistent, moreover he moved away. It was clear he wanted to be left alone. The black guy approached him AFTER EBM move away.

Whose is really in the wrong?

      I will see this movie.

      1. Look deeper dude, EBM has a loooong history of outrageous and violent behavior.

In 2009 Thomas Bruso was tased by police for being drunk and disorderly at an Oakland A’s baseball game. Photographer Troy Holden mentioned previous encounters he has had with Tom Bruso: “Back in 1996, I was working at the intersection of 2nd & Market. Each and every day the man pictured above would walk by my shop, wave a loaf of sourdough in my face, and scream obscenities about the San Francisco 49′ers. Eventually, I moved on and just assumed this fellow found something better to do with his time. I guess not.”

        1. I’m aware of that, but regardless of that previous behavior, HE walked towards the front of the bus and was followed and attacked.

  2. This looks like a steamy pile of shit. And the old man in the bus incident had been previously arrested at the Oakland Coliseum for an altercation with police, and was subsequently taken for a psychiatric evaluation. It was reported that he was off his medication at the time of the incident. It had also been reported that the whole incident started when the old man made a statement about “a brother shining his shoes.” I’m not saying the black guy who got his ass kicked doesn’t bear some comparative fault for approaching the front of the bus; what I’m saying is that the old man isn’t some vigilante hero – just a tough, crazy old man prone to antisocial outbursts.

    1. It was reported that he was off his medication at the time of the incident.

By that, I meant the bus incident.

      1. +1 to everything you said.

    2. It had also been reported that the whole incident started when the old man made a statement about “a brother shining his shoes.”

This statement needs to be clarified because it’s not correct. I looked into the incident very deeply when the video first broke and this is what I read:

When the black man first gets on the video, Bruso (EBM) apparently doesn’t move his feet far enough out of the isles for the man’s liking, and the man says to him ‘What you want me to spit shine your shoes?!’, meaning ‘move your fucking feet asshole’. Bruso mistakes the man’s statement as a legitimate offer to spit shine his shoes, and he goes to the back of the bus to take him up on his offer. This violently offends the man (which I guess isn’t a completely surprising turn of events) and Bruso retreats after realizing he screwed up, but at this point it’s too late and the rest is clearly evident on the tape.

Bruso can have all the negative history he wants (I’ve looked up other vids of him and I am pretty sure he’s at least slightly nuts as well) but in this particular case he was right and Mr. I’m black and I’m mad deserved every pound of ass whooping he received that day.

      1. This statement needs to be clarified because it’s not correct. The statement is incorrect??? Come on, I thought you were smarter than that. Are you saying that it HAD NOT been reported that the incident started with him making such a comment? I didn’t say that it started that way, I said that’s what had been reported. You have to read closely and work those reading comprehension skills when I say something, ’cause I’m tricky like that.

Bruso mistakes the man’s statement as a legitimate offer to spit shine his shoes

I was going to say, “Yeah right, that’s what he thought.” But then I realized, he’s far from firing on all cylinders, so maybe he did think it a legitimate offer.

… his feet far enough out of the isles for the…

An “isle” is an island, e.g. the British Isles. ;)

        1. Damn it. Accidentally add one extra “d” in there and it throws your whole formatting out of whack.

        2. aisles… I missed an ‘a’…. The Siegfried Oath demands my death….

          Farewell cruel world!

  3. The original video is STILL so cool. I laughed my *ss off. “I need a bambulance”
    The movie looks fun too.

Met Trejo in October of 2010 in Worcester, MA. Nice guy! Very humble. I’ll see this flick.

  5. So EBM’s prior history and seemingly racist attitude discredits the most righteous asswhoopin’ he gave that punkass on the bus 2 years ago? How? The video is what it is…the man was picked on, acosted repeatedly, and hit first. Then he most deservedly got to react and beat down that punk. I don’t care what his life is like. I care about the depth of the video on the bus which most people do. Do you guys expect all viral heros to have spotless lives? Those that do, do you really need heros that bad that you need to dissect proposed heros?

    1. I wonder if, in the movie, Danny Trejo’s character will also be an antisocial psychiatric patient who is prescribed medication that he doesn’t take and who runs around screaming obscenities at people for no reason? Will he get tased at a baseball game for being drunk and disorderly and being belligerent with the police?

      1. Oops, that wasn’t really meant to be a reply to the previous comment.

  6. Regardless of prior run ins with the law or the man’s character, he has a right to defend himself. Period. He did just that, and now one less person will attempt to intimidate someone whom they deem weaker.

    1. Regardless of prior run ins with the law or the man’s character, he has a right to defend himself.

That’s not the issue. The issue is the movie seemingly portraying this same man – Vietnam veteran with a beard, wearing a fanny pack and a t-shirt that says “I am a motherfucker,” gets in a fight and knocks a man out on a bus. Sounds pretty familiar. They’re portraying the man as some kind of vigilante hero instead of the mentally disturbed, almost certainly racist old man that he is. The guy defended himself – and good for him – but in all likelihood he probably started the whole incident. I encourage you to seek out video interviews with him. It’s pretty apparent that he is mentally disturbed, and that his recollection of the events of the day are nothing like what actually happened – I saw one where he claimed he was sucker punched in the jaw three times first, and that he punched him and kicked him when he was on the ground and he was knocked out for 22 and a half minutes. He also claimed that the man was a convicted murderer who was out on parole and was carrying a knife while on parole, and that after the incident he was sent back to prison – none of which appears to be even remotely true.

The guy’s fucking looney tunes, not a vigilante hero.

      1. The movie can’t be taken seriously. I presume you don’t believe in the existence of a large purple dinosaur named Barney, do you? So why take this one seriously?

  7. the amount of white guilt displayed in that trailer is astounding.

    1. I glad you said that. I was feeling guilty.

I wonder what the odds are on being confronted by presumably angry skinheads on public transportation in California.

  8. I’ll just take this as an idealized version of EBM, and enjoy it at that level.

  9. I don’t care about EBM or the doosh who he whooped. And after fucking “Machete”, I don’t give a shit about Danny trejo either. He may be the coolest guy ever but when you make a movie that obviously propagandized you don’t get any more respect.

  10. It’d a movie based on a very simple idea. It’s entertainment. Don’t read into it too deeply, mkay?
    Dan Trejo, the man, rocks.

  11. Glad that the PC crowd got involved and made them white men.
