Machine Gun Preacher is the inspirational true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as the savior of hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children.
Looks promising. Hopefully there’s more action than drama.

This looks good. Though I also fear there will be too much drama and not enough action.
I found out afterwards that this is based on a true story. But before that I was thinking that it was a rip off of 24. Regardless, it looks like it’s going to be good.
I read the guy’s bio on his site, he’s probably one of them most unique people out there
As long as at least one person gets kicked in the chest by Gerard butler, the movie will be worth it. No matter how overly dramatic it may get.
I read the profile for this guy when I heard about the movie about 2 months ago or so.
The only thing that bothers me is whether or not his journey, in the film or otherwise, is genuinely worth the sacrifice. Or is it that he can justify his anger through “doing good”? Personally I do believe no one should be “murdered” or enslaved.
Yet sometimes I wonder about these films or people. “My blood-lust is okay because I can improve someone else’s life.” Those kinds of mentality, but not limited to, seem to be why vigilantism is considered heroic.
When in reality the sacrifice is not that much, at least not to someone like Bill Gates (average amount of money donated versus actual income).
Will I want to see it, yes I will. I hope my bias turns off long enough to enjoy it.
Ya know, this looks like a movie worth going to see. I suppose I differ from some of you who are worried there won’t be enough action… I think that the story behind the action will make it a better movie, not the other way around.
Frank, I agree with you… a little. I don’t like it when people are murdered. However, when you’ve got guys fighting for drug lords (who typically don’t have humanitarian goals in mind), I don’t have any problem with somebody going up and taking them down. Or possibly I’m responding in ignorance because I didn’t read the bio on the real guy’s story…
I’m not concerned about there not being enough action either; I want to see the story. If I want action, I’ll go watch something starring Jason Statham (I have been seeing commercials for the movie Killer Elite with him though, and it looks decent, even though it claims to be based on a true story and that seems to be highly contested).
