About the young man he had to kill when fighting at the Battle of the Bulge:

The video was made by Rauch Bros. Animation in conjunction with StoryCorps, whos “mission is to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.” I’m gonna have to take a better look around that site when I have more time, it sounds really amazing.

This should be shown to anyone that fetishizes war. I’m very pro-gun, don’t get me wrong, but to anyone that would think of war as some sport… they should see this.
That a good point Danni. It seems like war is glorified so often, but when you really get down to it I bet there are more people that have stories like this one, then there are people that will tell you they had a great time and have no ill memories or regrets.
This is one of the reasons I love Story Corps. There are plenty of veterans with stories similar to this, but never talked about it. Both my grandfathers were in Korea, but only one would talk about it. Even then the stories were fairly limited. It’s great these stories are being preserved as we losing these treasures.
Did this video break or something? I can’t get it to move off the start pin.
Never mind, the original apparently doesn’t work on Safari. I found a working copy at

Did you upgrade your Safari? I think the newest version supports HTML5. That’s probably why it wasn’t working for you.
