Sleeping on the job AUG:
Darwin called… Pretty much the stupidest thing you can do. Loaded or not, it is not good practice.
The rifle is a Steyr AUG.
I can’t tell what country those guys are from by the patch and uniform.. anyone know?

They look Austrian by the uniform, covers, and kit. They’re not Bundeswehr.
It could just be the angle of the picture but it looks to me like the guy on the right might have the muzzle of his rifle pointed (inadvertently) at his own throat or chin.
Yea looks like it!
it happens way more than youd think. there are many stupid people that do this in our own military. even at the range during training. usually its just people stupid enough to rest their hands on the muzzle
Austrian or Australian, as those are the only militaries that issue AUGs standard.
Well no but you are close
austrian-made they are also used issued in australia, new zealand and east timor
Getting better guys, have a look at Wikipedia and you will get the full list.
But he’s’tired!
Almost for sure Austrian. The hat style and green solid uniforms are the old Austrian uniforms, and so are the boots. I think they are changing it to a more modern pattern.
lol
I wonder how often this happens (globally)?
way too often. ive probly seen it happen 30+ times just in basic training. “but drill sargeant, its not loaded and i havent slept for 2 days”
Yes they are Austrian
Confession time:
I used to put the muzzle of my M16 up into my helmet and let the chinstrap support my head and just kind of snooze. Never locked and loaded, though, and the muzzle was pointed directly at my head.
I meant to say that the muzzle was NOT directly pointed at my head.
That sort of thing was very common in Israel, years ago, it resulted in several accidental deaths. That is why you see reservists carrying their rifles without a mag.
So they can have nap time?
Austria, here is the crest which you see on their shoulder patches

Thanks Pete.. Holy, that is a badass crest!
saw this a lot in basic training and in my regular army unit.
