Weapon Sculptures With Money – Justine Smith

In my Money, Guns, Art – Scott Campbell post I mentioned how I have a weakness for weapon related art, and how I love the smell of money.

London artist Justine Smith creates some sculptures using U.S. $1 bills that I would love to hang on my wall:

M16:

S&W 645:

Fragmentation Grenade:

  1. Just a couple of observations:

    1) That pistol – it kind of resembles a Sig, but looks too long. And it appears to have some lever on the slide, like an ambidextrous safety or something. Maybe it’s not actually modeled exactly after a real gun; if it is I’m curious what it is though.
    2) The rifle – That would actually be an M-16, not an M-16A1, right? The A1 has a forward assist(?)

Yea that Sig one is iffy.. I couldn’t find a sig that looked identical, although some of the features are the same. I see what you mean about the switch on the slide.

Thanks for pointing that out about the m16 not being an A1… I updated it in the post.

I don’t think it is a Sig, It looks like some sort of S&W to me.

        1. Good call. I think it’s a S&W 645

          1. I’ve owned a 645 (pile of crap), but it does indeed look just like a 645.

  2. Firearms As Art…

It’s really interesting to see someone making works of art in the shape of firearms. I don’t know if these were made by making casts of the actual weapons or through some other means.  Either way, Justine Smith did a wonderful job with them…

For the amounts people are willing to pay for all things Black Rifle it should be plastered in $100 bills.

Now that you mention it, I think that’s what Bushmaster must have done with the ACR.. Created the paint out of fresh ground up $100 bills :P

  4. I consider myself lucky that I was able to get my AR for $602 total.

Now if Justine were to have ground up $1 bills to make the sculptures then coated them with $1 bills it might be comparable in cost to the ACR.

Oh the beauty of the AR platform!

  5. The M-16 should have been made of $2 bills, with an Alfred E Neuman $3 bill thrown in to get the “223” somewhere on the gun.

  6. I wonder how much the sculptures cost after they are constructed… and how many dollars are in each.
